As sorority women, we strive for academic excellence. The sororities at Western aim to support their members' academic pursuits in every way they can. Many chapters have minimum averages, scholarship awards, and various programs to provide their members with all the resources they need to excel at Western. Because there are so many diverse women in every sorority, you are bound to find sisters in classes, in your program, and in the library. Some sororities also offer mentorship programs where younger members are matched with and older member in a similar program, or where members who are excelling in their academics work with sisters who are having a bit more difficulty. Older members may also host study sessions for a given class or exam.
All of our sororities have study hours when members can go to a designated spot on campus and study with their sisters. Sorority houses also often have a designated study room that is always available to sisters looking for a quiet place to work. During exams, we also reserve study rooms on campus or claim tables in the library so sisters have a place to work and to find people in their program.
Those who hold a scholarship or academic chair position within their sororities often are there to help members be motivated when it comes to school work and grades, book rooms on campus to provide a quiet area to do work, connect members to alumni who graduated in fields of interest to current active members, and much more. Just know that there is always a support system when it comes to school work and grades as well within the Greek Community.
